Born in Madrid in 1952, MD degree in 1975 and PhD degree in 1989 both at Autonomous University in Madrid. Fellowship in Hospital Universitario La Paz from 1977-1980.

Nephrologist consultant from 1981 until 1998, specifically dedicated to the development of a PD program in Hospital Universitario La Paz. This program has treated more than 600 patients over these years. 

Head of Nephrology Department in Hospital Universitario de La Princesa in Madrid from 1998 until 2004. head of department of nephrology in Hospital Universitario La Paz since 2004 (current position)

Coordinator of the Public (ICIII) Spanish Kidney Research Network (REDinREN) since 2007 (current position)
