Trained in Nephrology at the University of Newcastle, UK and Yale University School of Medicine, USA.

He was Senior Lecturer in Nephrology at the University of Wales College of Medicine from 1996.

Since 2007 he has been Medical Director (Renal) for Europe, Middle East and Africa for Baxter Healthcare SA.
