Peter Blake

Dr. Peter Blake is a Professor of Medicine at the Western University and London Health Sciences Centre in London, Ontario, Canada. He is a Nephrologist at the London Health Sciences Centre.  He was Chair of the Division of Nephrology at Western University between 2003 and 2014. In September 2013, Dr. Blake was appointed Medical Director of the Ontario Renal Network, the government agency which administers renal services in the Canadian province of Ontario.  He was President of the North American Chapter of the International Society of Peritoneal Dialysis (ISPD) from 2013 to 2015.
Over the past two decades, Dr. Blake’s principal research and education interests have been in the area of dialysis.  He has given over 300 invited talks in 40 different countries.  He has published over 150 papers during this time.  He has been Editor of two major textbooks in Nephrology.  Dr. Blake was Editor-In-Chief of Peritoneal Dialysis International between 2004 and 2013.  He is or has been a member of the Editorial Boards of the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, the American Journal of Nephrology, Advances in Renal Replacement Therapy, and Nephrology News and Issues.
Dr. Blake has served on the National Kidney Foundation K/DOQI Peritoneal Dialysis Work Group, and on the Council of International Society of Peritoneal Dialysis Council (ISPD). He has been Chair of the Canadian Society of Nephrology Work Group on Peritoneal Dialysis since 1998 and has Co-Chaired the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) North American Task Force on Renal Disasters on behalf of the ISN Acute Renal Failure Commission. In 2013, he received the Gabriel Zellerman award from the North American Chapter of ISPD and in 2016, at the ISPD Congress in Melbourne, Australia he received the Dimitrios Oreopoulos Award for lifetime contributions to peritoneal dialysis
Dr. Blake graduated from University College Dublin Medical School in 1980. He received his Masters degree in Immunology from the University of Alberta in 1992. He also holds Fellowships of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada, and of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.
