Denis Fouque, MD, PhD, is Professor of Nephrology at the University Claude Bernard Lyon1, and Chief of the Division of Nephrology at the Edouard Herriot Hospital in Lyon, France. Dr Fouque has published 140 papers, including reviews, meta-analyses and 13 book chapters. His research fields are in nutrition and metabolism including calcium and phosphate in chronic kidney disease and dialysis. He is Director of the adipocyte research group at INSERM U870 Unit at the University Claude Bernard Lyon1. Dr Fouque also got training in Evidence based Medicine by founding the Cochrane Collaboration Renal Group in 1997 and being the Co-ordinating Editor until 2001. Dr Fouque was President of the International Society for Renal Nutrition and Metabolism (2004–2006) and is currently co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Renal Nutrition. Dr Fouque is a member of the K-DIGO Advisory Board.
