Jean-Philippe Bastard studied Medicine at the University of Paris XIII, France and specializing in Medical Biology in 1994. He received his Ph.D. in 1996. His works mainly focused on the study of insulin resistance-related inflammation in obesity, type 2 diabetes and lipodystrophies and, on the involvement of the secretion products from adipose tissue namely adipokines.
