Dr. Bert Bammens studied medicine at the Catholic University of Leuven and was trained in Internal Medicine and Nephrology at the Leuven University Hospitals, Belgium. His research work in the field of uremic toxicity resulted in the doctoral thesis on the protein-bound solute p-cresol (2005). Since 2007 he works as consultant at the Department of Nephrology, Dialysis and Renal Transplantation of the Leuven University Hospitals with ongoing scientific interest in renal replacement therapy, uremic toxicity and cardiovascular disease.
