Dr Bert Bammens
Dr. Bert Bammens was born on September 25th 1974. He studied medicine at the Catholic University of Leuven and was trained in Internal Medicine and Nephrology at the Leuven University Hospitals, Belgium. In 2005 he finished his PhD traineeship with the public defense of his doctoral thesis entitled “The protein-bound solute p-cresol - Generation, elimination and clinical implications in patients with chronic kidney disease”. He is currently working as full-time senior academic staff member of the Department of Nephrology, Dialysis and Renal Transplantation at the University Hospitals Leuven and as an associate professor at the Department of Pathophysiology, Faculty of Medicine of the Catholic University Leuven, Belgium.
His scientific points of interest are uremic toxicity, renal replacement therapy and mechanisms of cardiovascular disease in chronic kidney diseased patients.
